Life Thoughts on an Airplane

I’m on a twelve hour day flight to London and it’s awesome. It’s brilliant. I have the opportunity to sit back, watch movies, read and think. With all that’s happening in life, I am again reminded that with life comes many roles, many angles and many paths. How you react, how you decide, is up to you. You have the power to determine what you want to do with it. It’s a simple message, one that you probably already know, but one we also often forget.

I watched three movies, “Saving Mr. Banks,” “Philomena,” and the “Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” Ok I attempted “The Wolf of Wallstreet” but I couldn’t stand the wolf. I loved the other three movies.

“Saving Mr. Banks” reminded me that you really shouldn’t let your past haunt nor stop you from moving on in life. No Mary Poppins will just appear at your front door to save you from yourself. You have to save yourself. When things get bad, look on the bright side, remember to dream, and go fly a kite.

“Philomena” too is about life. Sometimes, holding onto secrets, holding onto the past, can stop you from forgiving, from letting go. When you finally do, it could be too late. Once time is past, you can never get it back. How you look and view situations also really affect how you feel.

My last and favorite was “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” Life is to be lived, life is to have courage, and life is to go discover. It’s in your hands. I could go on, but I don’t want to spoil the fun.

Stop reading, dreaming, get up and go discover the world. Face your fears.
